If exposure to a hazardous substance is not properly controlled it may cause ill health in a number of ways. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) Regulations was introduced to Control exposure to all substances hazardous to health arising from work activities.

Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems, Thorough Examinations and Tests are required every 14 months in accordance with the CoSHH Regulations:
One of the control measures commonly used to comply with the CoSHH Regulations is the ‘Introduction of LEV’ (Dust & Fume extraction systems), effectively to ensure that the pollutant is extracted from the work area at source.

Environmental Ltd experienced occupational hygienists have Institute of Acoustics qualifications in Workplace Occupational Noise and Environmental Noise, and can carry out noise exposure monitoring and noise level surveys of full sites, noisy areas, processes and equipment, identifying the daily noise exposure of all your employees who might be at risk of hearing damage, and provide information to help you decide what to do to control the noise exposure and for formulating action plans for remedial measures to reduce the risk of hearing damage.
Hand-Arm and Whole Body Vibration monitoring and assessments:
The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations specify ‘exposure action values’ and ‘exposure limit values’. They require employers to reduce exposure to harmful levels of vibration to a minimum.
Workers whose hands are regularly exposed to high vibration may suffer injuries which can include vascular disorders (known as ‘vibration induced white finger’), neurological and muscular damage. Whole body vibration arising from shaking or jolting of the human body can lead to lower back problems.
S.I. Environmental Limited’s team provide clients with measurement and assessment of hand-arm vibration and of whole body vibration. They can also provide a calculation of maximum permitted daily usage and consultancy as well as offer advice on control strategies.
