Many people can become exposed to various chemicals, dusts, fumes and fibres that threaten levels of health upon inhalation. These substances are known as “Hazardous Substances”, which need to be specifically monitored and controlled within the workplace. To ensure the efficient limitation of these substances, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulation (COSHH) was established to ensure employers met relevant criteria in the protection of all site visitors and work employees.
It is the responsibility of the employer to assess all risks to staff and visitors when operating with or around hazardous substances, keeping a ready available record of all previously conducted air monitoring assessments. In addition, the assessment of current control measures can be concluded through the monitoring of employee’s personal exposure to hazardous substances by inhalation
